Η ταινία ντοκιμαντέρ ΑΓΩΝΕΣ – Από τον μύθο στην αναβίωση αναδεικνύει μέσα από την ιστορία, την τέχνη και τον πολιτισμό τις ολυμπιακές, πανανθρώπινες αξίες που γεννήθηκαν στην Αρχαία Ολυμπία και οδήγησαν στην ιδέα της αναβίωσης. Καταγράφει άγνωστες πτυχές της ολυμπιακής ιστορίας που συνδέονται με την Ελληνική και τη Γαλλική Επανάσταση.
Το ντοκιμαντέρ είναι μία παραγωγή της ΕΡΤ, με γυρίσματα σε εμβληματικά σημεία τεσσάρων πόλεων: Αρχαία Ολυμπία, Αθήνα, Παρίσι και Βιέννη. Μουσικά ντοκουμέντα από παρτιτούρες του 19ου αιώνα ενορχηστρώθηκαν και ηχογραφήθηκαν ειδικά για το ντοκιμαντέρ από την Εθνική Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα της ΕΡΤ.
Τη μουσική υπογράφει ο διακεκριμένος συνθέτης Δημήτρης Παπαδημητρίου.
